CANON CARR-SMITH.

FAREWELL PRESENTATION.

"Under the auspices of the Australian Indus-trial Christian Fellowship, a large gathering took placo in the Domain yesterday. Mr. G. Waite was chairman. 'The proceedings opened with the presentation of an address from the fellowship to the Rev. Canon W. I. Carr-Smith. on the eve of his departure for England. Mr. C. C.Lazzarlnl, M.L.A., bore testimony to the life-long work of the Canon in the interest of the workers wherever he was located.

Canon Carr-Smith said that he heartily ap-preciated the kindness extended to him by all sections of tho community on his return visit to Sydney. He hoped, if spared in health, to make another visit to this great country at some distant date. In that way he would be assisting to keep up the good feeling between the old land and the new. (Applause.) Such a tie could not be In better hands than those of the Industrial Christian Fellowship, which stood for everything which was bright and good in the history of our race and Christian fellowship.

The Rev. Canon Carr Smith, who during the past six months has been discharging the duties of rector at St. James' Church during the absence of the rector (Dr. Mlcklem, preached his farewell sermons yesterday to crowded congregations.

Canon Carr Smith will leave for New Zealand on Thursday, and after spending a few days there will return to England, via America.
