! SYDNEY-ADELAIDE.

i Service May Commence I Soon.

The Minister for Defence, Mr. Bowden, visited the Mascot aerodrome yesterday, and on his return he said that he hoped to get the Sydney-Adelaide flying service into operation soon. He

had promised the Larkin Aircraft Company that he would allow the company to commence operations with the aeroplanes already In Its possession as soon as he was assured that the new aeroplanes ordered in England had received an airworthy certificate.

Mr. Bowden announced that he had received a most interesting report from Flight Com-mander Cobby, who made an overland journey from Derby to Wyndham to select land-ing places for an extension of the GeraldtonDerby flying services to Wyndham. The route, via Fitzroy Crossing, Hall's Creek, and the Ord Valley, was found to be quite practicable. The air mileage would be 550, to be done in three stages.

If funds can be made available out of the civil aviation vote, the extension of the service will be authorised, said the Minister. Meanwhile preparations along the line of route are to be proceeded with.

A proposal to transfer the Randwick wireless station from the navy to the air force led to an inspection of the station by Mr. Bowden yesterday. The air force require! it for an experimental station.
