The principal object of the Company, is to create in the production of AUSTRALIAN MADE- rilOTO- i PLAYS on a large scale, to be sold throughout the MOULD The Company is to obtain abroad a Director, .. Camera Man, Art Director, a Scenario Writer, and a I mile g Index It will also complete the purchase

of the property and building, upon which a portion of the purchase price has already been paid, and pro- " cost to make the necessary alterations required to make them suitable for the production of motion pictures

for World release 2,

One of the main attractions to the likely Investor in this Company is the acquisition of the exclusive services for a period of five years of the Well known Australian actor, Arthur Shirley who spent six years in America, and has just returned to his native land after having undergone a thorough training in all the departments of the Picture World Mr Shirley started at the very beginning He studied the mech General end of the business and gradually in the course of years of work and assiduous study in the gigantic cinema studios in California, he learned how the best pictures were produced, and then in turn learned how these pictures were to be advantageously released to the Public Mr Shirley s previous ten years'' experience on the Australian stage as a prominent Veto stood him in good stead in his early trial-, his Screen Artist. His success was instantaneous life triumph being in The Fall of a Nation, in which he was

the Featured Star He played leading parts with William S Hart, Bessie Barriscale, Pauline Bush, and many others in America and his name is therefore, a house) old word in the United States Mr Shirley has the dual advantage of having devoted considerable attention to the business end in addition he mastered every article

of the artistic side of the production of Motion Pictures and after exhaustive study of the exchange system of distribution and sale of plate as, he turned his knowledge to account by making tentative arrnnfceiiicnts for the sale in America of Australian produced picture films which will prove of immense advantage to the Company Designs have been prepared for a magnificent studio to be erected at Rose Bay for the purpose

of producing the finest photo plays (purely Australian) '

America holds out a vast market for Australian photo plays and to show the interest evinced in this

direction it is interesting to quote what one of the greatest distributing agencies in America states in a by

letter to Mr Shhlcv -

After thinking more about your enterprise of making photo plays in Australia, v the greater my enthusiasm Without doubt pictures of the nature you intend making

will be in big demand in the United States I think America is just ripe for productions of this sort and I assure you that our Company will be very pleased to handle your pictures W wishing you success "

In addition to the tremendous Held offered in America for our productions. Great Britain and her Dominions to all of whom Australian made pictures will necessarily be of great interest, will prove ready

customers for the mines we propose to manufacture >

MOTION PICTURE EARNINGS. , ,

\ To enable the Investor to glean some information as to the possible profits in the production c4

Motion Pictures, it is interesting to be in a position to quote the following statistics, supplied to the pro- mother of inquiry from the leading film exchanges of America - f I

' Tile Ne cr Do Well" was sold for £31 250 then it was resold within two weeks for £75,000 It has already returned £130,000, and is still being shown , T

Marlin Johnson s picture Cannibals of the South Seas " at the Randolf Theatre, New Tor-, TIM

takings for the week's showing of this film was In exec of 14 000 '

' The Miracle Man cost 232 000, and has already earned close on £200,000 The Barrier" brought in -50,000 in three weeks. It cost 18ft

. Traffic in Souls cost -2500 The returns in 1917 exceeded £75 000 , "Neptune's Daughter Jill Annette Kellerman cost £5350 and up to 1917 earned over £50 000 "The Silence of Dean Maitland (Australian made), one of Mr Shirley's first Screen Successes, cost 24th and has made to date over £5000, and is still running 2,

Over one million p unds sterling yearly is "sent out of Australia for the purchase of pictures made in other lands Arthur Shirley Productions will not only keep much of this money at home, but will -use large sums of money to be spent in Australia for pictures exported by them. It will therefore be obvious

to intending investors that the opportunities of success for a company such as is proposed are Incalcul. able

It must be realised that the Oversea Market demands the best, and no bring to Australia most up-todate methods materials equipment, knowledge photogenic his art and understanding which characterise the picture pro sections of victories We are therefore be st died In asserting, that our photo plays will be

equal to the great picture classics of America We believe that Die finished Australian picture as presented? ' by us will be acclaimed a rival if not a peer, of the famous productions of the World's Greatest Picton

Studios. 3.

After carefully looking over the motion picture situation In Australia we believe every picture re- 1 leased by tile Arthur Shirley Productions Company will cover the cost of his production from local exhibit tion before it leaves the shores of Australia. In other words that the sale of the Australasian rights will pay the cost of production, and all moneys returned from abroad will be clear profit

We believe that this is the first opportunity Hut Australia s public have ever had of Investing: In -vf motion picture business and to share its profits from the very inception of this most important industry

We believe that we are in one of the best countries in the world to make pictures We believe that we have a Company and Scenarios that will enable us to make good pictures We believe that these pictures will he very popular in Australia i us will as in other parts of the world
