MR. J. URE SMITH.

The death of John Ure Smith, aged 68 years, late manager of the Australia Hotel, was the subject of an inquiry by the City Coroner

yesterday.

Wallace James Delgarno stated that on No-vember 22 the deceased and himself were on

the yacht Oenone, in Middle Harbour. About 7 a.m. next day deceased got up and went on deck to have a smoke. Witness followed about half an hour later, but he could see nothing of him. Eventually witness found de-

ceased floating in the water about 100 yards from the yacht. The Coroner found that de-ceased was drowned, but whether accidentally or otherwise the evidence did not enable him

to say.

The City Coroner, Mr. J. Jamieson, conducted

an inquiry yesterday into tho death of Thomas Molloy, aged 45 years, who was knocked down and fatally injured in Cleveland-street on

November 22 by a motor car driven by Harry Smith. Mr. Hayes, of the Crown Law Office,

represented the Inspector-General of Police

and Mr. Solomon and Mr. E. R Abigail appeated for Smith A verdict of accidental death was returned

PERTH.-Mr. John Bruton. electrician in the employ of Unebhaum, Johnson, and Co., was killed at South Perth. While ascending a ladder he placed his hand accidentally on a live wire and fell 18 feet to the ground.
