LADIES' AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS.

MISS DURACK ESTABLISHES NEW RECORD.

The annual carnival of the New South Wales Ladies' Amateur Swimming Association, held at the Domain Baths on Saturday, drew a large crowd of interested spectators Miss Fanny Durack successfully attacked her own world's record for the 100 metres distance, and a. Cunha, the Hawaiian sprinter, in the 100 metres gentlemen's imitation handicap, added to the attractions.

Athos Durack, as usual, proved (the star of the' carnival, and earned the heartiest applause when her time for the 100 metres (lm 16 1 5s) was announced. This is exactly two seconds faster than the previous world's record, held by Miss Durack. The raine lady won, with comparative case, the MO yards State championship, in 1m 5 2-5s, but there was no attempt in this race to lower any records. Although Miss Durack stood out so prominently, the displays given by the Misses M. Wylie, L. Fevyer, 0. Head, Lovelace, Evans, Fitzjohn, and Kuhl were very) fine. Cunha treated the onlookers to a great dash over the 100 yards. Conceding S. Lev) 6s and L. Boardman 38 start, he caught the faster of his two opponents, Boardman, 10 ) yards from the touch line, and the pair swam stroke for stroke Cunha was declared the winner by a touch. The time, 1m 55, is only 10s slower than the Australian record for the distance. The only other event in which men were allowed to take Part was a diving display), carried out by Messrs. L. M'Carthy, Jones, Bell, Wann, Morell, Evans, Moxham, and Northcote This team of divers gave a clever display. The Metropolitan Ladies' Club's representatives carried off most of the prizes. The carnival was carried out by a ladies' committee, including Mrs W. Oambc/s, starter, Miss D. Lundin, referee; Mesdames Mcintosh and Clarke and Miss Hallam, judges for swimming events. Mrs. Brown and Misses E. Shoppee and D. Lundin, Judges for diving events; Mrs. C. Terrey and Misses R Warren, G. Duff, and E. Shoppee, time-keepers. Results.
