TRADES AND LABOUR.

FERRY MEN'S FEDERATION.

The secretary of the Ferry and Tugboat Employees' Union (Mr. A. Carter) stated on Saturday that the negotiations for the link-ing-up of the unions connected with the Syd-ney Ferries' service, which had been in pro-gress for some weeks, were approaching finality. As a result of two special meetings of his union it had been decided to affiliate with the Federated Masters and Engineers' Association and the Firemen and Deck-hands Union, but the members were opposed to the suggested amalgamation.
