MINISTER PRAISED.

UNION CONGRATULATIONS.

At last night's meeting of the Federated Engine-drivers and Firemen's Association of Australasia (New South Wales Coast district branch), a resolution was carried congratu- lating the Manly Ferry and Tugboat Em- ployees' Union, the Firemen and Deckhands' Union, and masters and engineers generally of the harbour boats, upon the satisfactory result of the strike-in the achievement (practically) of 48 hours for a week's work.

It was also decided that a letter be sent to the Minister for Labour and Industry (Mr.

Carmichael) congratulating him on "the very able manner in which he had handled the whole difficulty"
