MILITARY COLLEGE.

SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS.

MELBOURNE, Monday.

In November last over 100 candidates made

application for admission to the Royal Mili tary College at Duntroon. All tho boys were medically examined and had subse

quently to submit to an educational test at the State capituls concerned. Today Brigadier-General Bridges of the college had a long conference with the Minister for

Defence at the Government barracks and it was subsequently announced that the 33 candidates for admission had been chosen.

In making the announcement Senator Pearce said that he was pleased to see that several of the successful boys had been edu

tated in State schools. Two of the New South Wales candidates who had qualified are the sons of Mr Austin Chapman. Those 33 boys, who are to enter the college when the next term begins constitute the second batch of cadets, the first division having joined the college 12 months ago. Of the first year students five were dismissed just priior to the Christmas vacation as it was considered that they were not likely to be come satisfactory officers.
