THE 100 METRES RECORD

At the meeting of Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur which was to have been held at the House of Parliament Stockholm during the Olympic Games musical items of ii terest appeared on the agenda paper a list of world s records - j- '- ted \ the hon secretary and Included therein was one by K Bretting established over 100 metres on April 6 1911 at Brussels In a 20 metres course and certified to as being correct by the Federation Belge des Societies de Natation (Belgium) in the time of lm 2 2 5s so that Duke Kahanamoku is reported achievement of lm 2 4 JS at the Olympic Games is not a worlds record It is puzzling to enthusiasts here that Betting was not mentioned in the cables As the Hivvailin and Cecil Healy were first and second in the 100 metres the German could not have done better
