JIB. HUGHES' VIEW.

NO GOVERNOR-GENERAL FOR SYDNEY.

MELBOURNE, Wednesday.

Mr. Hughes, Acting Prime Minister, stated to-day that he had not received any official intimation of the proposed extension of the lease of Government House, Sydney

Continuing, he said "I do not see that add-, ing a couple of months to the term will over-come the difficulty. The question is not what the Governor-General will do next week, or in the next three months, but what he is going to do for the next four or five years. One thing is clear that he cannot do. Unless we can suitably house him in Sydney, he can-! not go there."
