THE BARRABA RAILWAY.

BARRABA. Monday.

Tho Barraba railway was opened for traffic to-day without any ceremony. The time table Is a convenient one for the travelling public, except for the fact that the train takes nearly six hours to do the 60 odd miles be-tween Tamworth and Barraba. The conces-sion of a through carriage between Sydney and Barraba Is greatly appreciated. The mail time-table is, however, a most incon-venient one for business people. Mails close for Sydney at 3.15 p.m., while the Sydney mails are delivered here at 2.45 p.m. Replies to Sydney letters will consequently be 24 hours later than heretofor. Tho opinion is ex pressed that the "Railway Commissioners should accelerate the running of tho train be-tween Tamworth and Barraba, especially as tho greater part of the journey can be done during tho day time In consequence of the new mail time-table the local Post-office is now closed to tho public from 1.15 p.m. to 2.45 p.m., which is most inconvenient for tho public. -
