DISPUTED ELECTIONS.

PERTH (W.A.), Thursday.

In the Supreme Court this afternoon, In the East Fremantle disputed election case, judgment was given by the Chief Justice in regard to the petition of Mr. W. C. Angwin (Labour), who was defeated at the last election, against the return of Mr. John Joseph Holmes (Minis-terial, and successful candidate) on the grounds of the alleged invalidity of the election on October 27 last. Mr. Holmes was declared elected by a majority of 20 votes, and Mr. Angwin protested against his return on the grounds that 20 persons who were not entitled to vote recorded votes at the election. The Chief Justice upheld the point, and declared the election absolutely void, and that Mr. Holmes was not duly elected. A fresh election will have to be held.

Coolgardie and Geraldton elections, In which Ministerial candidates defeated Labour candidates by narrow majorities, have also been disputed, and as it is understood the parties have agreed to abide by the result of the East Fremantle case, fresh elections will have to take place in those constituencies.
