I TOWN CIOCK AT PADDINGTON. '

For somo timo past tho residents of Pad-dington havo felt the want of a clock In the tower of tho Town Hall. A suggestion was made that a clock should be placed in position to commomorato the coronation, and this was taken up by the council. The ratepayers were appealed to for funds, with the result that an amount almost covering the cost was subscribed. A handsome clock was purchased and placed in position, and yesterday the Premier (Mr. J. H. Carruthers), at the re-quest of the council, officially set it in mo tion, in the presence of a large gathering of residents. At tho conclusion of tho com« mony tho company was eutortalncd by thoj Mayor (Alderman Denis Bown), when a mimi her of specohs wero delivered'. In responding to tho toast of his health, tho Promior con-, gratulatcd tho residen ta of Paddington on) possessing such a handsome clock. Hereaftor, ho hoped that every municipality would da na Paddington had dono, and not depend on tim Government for such things. Tho clock, na tboy all know, had boon placed in position to commemorate the coronation, and ha thought that "io day on which ponce had boon declared between Russia and Japan was a fitting timo at which to sot it in motion. He hopod thora would bo peaco aud goodwill on earth as long as tho clock continued to go.
