URANA.

The Uraua P. and A. Society held a meeting to-day (Wednesday), but owing to tbe bad times the business was postponed for a month. ? Mr. W. C. Smith, our popular telegraph operator, returned from his holiday on Wednesday. Last Saturday Clear Hills football club visited Uraua to play a match .

The game was well contested, me result being that Clear Hills won, 2 goals 10 behinds to 2 goals 2 bebinds. A meeting of the Urana football club was held on Wednesday, when it was decided to commence tbe Association matches on June Stli, on which date Urana meet Napier at Urana. In addition to the trophy of a cup, presented by Mr. Sullivan, each member of the winning team will receive a meda't. At a date to be fixed it was decided to bold a ball. Driver Sheldrick and P. McCbesney have resumed duties from the Rock to Urana after long spells owing to unfortunate accidents, tbe former to his eye, and the latter to bis hand. Mrs. Bridget Widdup, a colonist of 55 years, who landed in Queensland by the ship Florentia. She also lived for a time in Sydney, and eventually came to Cocketgedong station with Mr, John Broughton, its first owner. After mar- riage she settled down in Urana, before it was surveyed. She had nine children, (eight of whom survive), 23 grand children and a great-grand child. The deceased was 78 years of age, and was a native of County Clare, Ireland. The large funeral cortege testified to the great respect in which she was regarded. Rev. Cahill officiated at the grave. Messrs. Barrie and Cowdery, the railway contractors, sent away on Wednesday eight men in charge of a ganger to the Dubbo district iu order to load sleepers, the supply here being very short.
