ST. JOHN'S, ASHFIELD.

A special musical service in commemoration of the fifty-second anniversary of tho consecration of St John the Baptist's Church, Ashfield, was held on Wednesday night. After a choral evensong by the church choir, and sermon by tho Rev. P. J. Simpson (precentor of St. Andrew's Cathedral), Stainer's sacred cantata, "The Daughter of Jairus," by the full choir of St. John's, assisted by members of the cathedral Choir, and a large orchestra, was rendered.
