FOOTBALL.

I PROPOSED ENGLISH RUGBY TEAM.

Some months ago Mr Mullineux, of St John's College Cambridge wrote to the New South Wales Rugby Union and also to Melbourne with reference to an English football team visiting the colonies Mr. M'Arthur, the representative of the New South Wales Union in England, has informed the secretary that the English Union has given its sanction to a team being managed by Mr. Mullineux, who it appears will choose a team composed mostly of Oxford and Cambridge University men and some of the boat club players The New South Wales union has considered the question of finances and the terms in regard to the expenses have been fixed. It is probable the Englishmen will be born in June or July, The tour may extend to Queensland, Victoria, and New Zealand As the visitors would most likely find the weather in August and September in Australia somewhat trying to permit of much football those months would be suitable for a trip through New Zealand, where many matches could be arranged. The question of a tour to New Zealand will depend upon the terms offered by the local union. 'The New South Wales union is acting as the controlling body, and the other unions are being communicated with.
