THE FAITHFUX MASSACRE.

The site of the Faithful massacre in 1836 has been definitely fixed by Mr. Uren, state School teacher of Benalla. The Faithful brothers were the first white men to visit that district. They went to look for land, and went on to Euroa, leaving nine men in charge of sheep at a site near the iron railway-bridge. The men were attacked by blacks, and ran to a spot about half a mile distant on the Goo-malibee-road, where seven or them were killed. The two who escaped returned later and buried the bodies of their massacred mates. The bones were found by Mr. Uren a few days ago. At the shire meeting on Monday a discussion took place with regard to erecting a me-morial on the spot. It was decided to ask Mr. Thomas Nixon, in whose pro-perty the remains are, to donate the par-, ticular piece of land in which the remains

were discovered. The matter is now de ferred until a reply has been received from him. . .
