BATHURST.

Thursday, 4 p.m.

I am happy to congratulate our Sydney friends on the opening of the telegraph between their city and this town, several messages having been sent through yesterday. This rapidity of interchange of communi-cation, combined with the advantages lately intro-duced for the transmission of money through the same medium, will, I doubt not, be fully appreciated. The curiosity evinced, from the numbers calling at the temporary office at the police court, has somewhat taxed the kindness of Mr. Cracknell, and has certainly shown the interest the townspeople have taken in its prosperity.
