J. M'Donald v. J. Ballantyne.-This was a cross action brought by plaintiff to recover the sum of £20, damages alleged to have been sus-tained through the breaking down of a dog-cart which had been hired from defendant. Mr. Batho for plaintiff, and Mr. Obubb for defend-ant. Before any evidence was taken in this case, Mr. Ohu'bb took objeetion to tbo informa-tion as not setting forth the distinct and full particulars upon which the aotion was brought. The objection was sustained by the Beuch, who non-suited the plaintiff, with £2 11s. costs.

A special meeting of the members of the Municipal Council was held at the School of Arts, this afternoon, for the purpose of making

arrangements for drawing up on address of con-dolence to Major Blackall on the decease of his lamented father, the late Governor of Queens-land. The members present were the Mayor and Aldermen Shenton, Watkins, Vowles, Gorry, and Cameron. It was unanimously resolved, on the motion of Alderman Watkins, seconded by Alderman Gorry, that the preparation of the address should be left in the hands of the Mayor and Town Clerk.
