THE SHIP KINNEAR.

A REPORT bavin!* obtained circula-

tion that the Ship KINNEAR, Captain C. ¡Mallard, was not sea-worthy, in consequence of not hiving sufficient ballast on board, the attention of the Publie is called to the annexed Certificates, which shew that such report was raised without any foundation :

" This is to certify that on the 22d March, 1936, I took charge of the Bnrque Kinnear, as Pilot, unmoored her, and proceeded under sail with top-sails, top-gallnnt-sails and foro-snil, jib and spanker, down the Harbour «bout four miles; that for the latter part of the time we liad n fresh breeze ; that the Ship, although a little tender, owing to the weight of her chain cables on deck, and other lumber, which was io lie struck down below and cleared, still pjii.iiiiic I very well going down to a curtain bearing during the pufTs, but not beyond ; and I consider when the chain cable and other lumber shall be cleared off the deck, and the royal masts pot down, that the Ship will be perfectly sea-worthy, and fit to perform

any voyage.

" We, the undersigned, do hereby certify that at the request of Captain Charles Mallard, in consequence of a rumour having gone abroad that the Ship Kinnear, under bis command, was not sea-worthy, not having sufficient ballast, we re-paired on board the said vessel, and from all nppearauce, and after a strict inquiry of the Offi-cers as to their opinion respecting the Vessel when under sail, wo do declare as our united opinion, that the Ship is perfectly sea-worthy, and .should not hesitate to risk our lives and property on the present voyage in her present state.

THIS valuable Preparation destroys all

offensive and putrid effluvia, prevents pu trefaction, mid corrects the impurities of the air in close apartments, and in situations exposed to noxious vapours.

DiarcTiONs FOR USE -Mix two table spoonsful

of the Powdet with one Quart of Water.

To prevent infection fiom small-pox, measles, cholera morbus, scarlet and typhus fevers, spriuk'e the dihited liquid, or keep some in open dishes in the chamber of the sick ; soak in it the linen &c. taken from the patient, and afterwards rinse in water ; put a wine-glassful into the water of the night-chair or bed-pan ; if death take place, wash the body with it occasionally, and it will retard putrcfaclion.

To purify the air in sick rooms, bos utah, work-houses, prisons, ships, courts of justice, places of public amusement, &c , sprinkle them frequently with the diluted liquid.

To destroy nil offensive and putrid effluvia arising from drains, sewers, cess-pools, &c, pour into them a pint of the liquid mixed with a pail

ful of water.

Tainted ¡Nícat, Fish, Game, &c, will be divest-ed of nil smell ; and fresh meat may be kept much longer, in the warmest weather, without the slightest injury to its quality or taste, if sprinkled with or dipped into the diluted liquid, at intervals, and suspended in the air.

To Burns, Scalds, Bruises, Ulcerous Sores, and Glendular Swellings, apply a rag kept moist with the liquid, diluted with only four times the quan-tity of water, and it is to be used in the same proportion asa wash to cure the itch ; to destroy bugs, the venom of rabid animals, and relieve the pain from the sting of gnats, bugs, musquitoes,

&c.
