'PLUS BRAND' FACTOR

(To tho Editor).

T)EAR SIR, So the 'Plus Brand' factor did play its part in the Rugby Test. I am naturally elate'd — a great team beaten by a great team. 'One looks forward now to Auckland with every confidence — Saturday's was certainly a tussle of giants, and worthv of the occasion, viz. 'for the

Rugby Union supremacy of the world.' These All-Blacks are certainly hard to beat, especially on . their own ground. My wishes for a dry ground were not realised, but the 'Boks rose to the occasion.^ The African critics seem to be right in their classification of Gerry Brand, for he certainly demonstrated his ability yesterday. I remember the day Gerry was born, because I was at Newlands watching the Hamiltons defeat Stellerbosch, in the final on that day, and Brand is a Hamiltonian— born on the day of a great occasion for his club, because Stellerbosch possessed the Springbok (original) threequarter line and full-back (Joubert), plus Paul Roos, etc. Yours, 'Springbok,' Darlinghurst.
