Middlemiss gets 4th

suspension

MELBOURNE: St Kilda defender Glen Middlcmiss has been suspended for the fourth time this season on a striking charge.

Middlcmiss, 28, was one of four senior-list players suspended last night by the VFL tribunal after clashes in two reserve games last Saturday.

Middlemiss's record for 1984 is now four appearances over incidents in two senior and two reserve games with penalties of two games imposed on each of the four charges.

Last night he told the tribunal

that he had been under threat of being dumped by St Kilda after his third suspension recently.

But the match committee had told him on Saturday that he would not be penalised — even if he was suspended over the striking charge involving the Sydney Swans' Darren" McAsey — because it considered he had been provoked.

•In the other charges heard last night, all involving striking, Geelong defender Stephen Rcynoldson, 21, was suspended for two games and the Swans' McAsey and Mick Condon each received two-game penalties for striking Middlcmiss.
