PS man to be visiting fellow

A senior Canberra public servant has been appointed a visiting fellow at the University of Melbourne under the university's exchange-visitor scheme with the Australian Public Service.

Dr Michael Keating, the first assistant secretary of the economics division of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, will be attached to the Graduate School of Business Administration and will also

teach in the university's department of economics.

Dr Keating's six-month appointment is the first under the exchange-visitor scheme, which aims, over several years, to give public servants the chance to spend time in the department of economics and for faculty staff to work in the Public Service.

Dr Keating graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1962 with a first-ciass honours degree

in economics.

He was awarded a doctorate of philosophy by the Australian National University in 1967.
