AS I arcnlently fell in with the newspaper

Austi alian, of jcsterday, I observed a notice to me from a Mr II Allen, Chief Officer of the stesm bout Comet, i expecting the making fast of warps to my ship, (the Dublin^, and in reply thereto I lime to inform Mr H Allen, that I never refused to allow his or rather the Comet's warps to be muda fast to the Dublin, provided they weic made fast in their proper places, and not to the channels, &c , of the said ship, howe* er, there appears a vciy great deal of spider-like venom in the public notice of Mr. H. Allen, but as a Comet is supposed a fiery though transient meteor, I feel no surprise at a few sparks in this instance emanating from its tail, as I suppose on board such a steamer as the Comet, the Chief Officer lives aft I hope for the credit of the Comet it will retain its plsce among us a little longer to gain some more passengers, otherwise I fear the notice of jesterday will cause the profits of its appearance t > be very small, I have much pleasure in seeing a yarn so ably doubled, at a first attempt at "thorn's Wharf,' audwould adwse th« writer U make a second mai, which may s'lJl further bring forth his literary acquirements to the notice of the public.
