UNUSUAL VESSEL COMPLETES

TRIALS

town, completed her trials in Port

Phillip Bay this week, and will be handed over to the Army early next week. Crusader has been designed to carry and handle 2,000 tons of tanks, landing barges, and,. heavy earth-moving equipment in the Pacific. The vessel has six propellers and four rudders, as well as many other unusual features. She gave complete satisfaction during the trials, and is expected to go north almost immediately.

AIR FORCE ASSOCIATION'S NEW OFFICE

The office of the Air Force Associa-tion has been moved from Collins House, 360 Collins st, to 7th floor, Howey Court. ,234 Collins st, Mel-bourne.

RAAF MEN RETURNING FROM BORNEO

Among the first draft of 1st Tac-tical Air ' Force personnel to be cleared from Borneo by sea, 250 men from all states have left Labuan by the motor vessel Wanaka, and are expected to reach Townsville on No-vember 28. the Department of Air said yesterday. From Townsville they will be dispersed to personnel depots in their home states.

DUTCH NAVY THANKS RAN FOR SERVICES

Thanks to the RAN for evacuating Dutch internees, and his deep re-gret that the Royal Netherlands Navy had been unable to carry out this work, were expressed by Capt H. A. van Foreest, senior officer

of the RNN, in a signal received by the Commonwealth Naval Board. He said all Dutch internees in the RAN area had been successfully evacu-ated, and their cordial reception, care, and entertainment on RAN ships had been highly praised by all who were iescued. Capt van Foreest's message has been passed on to the ships concerned.

FINED FOR TAX EVASIONS

For offences against the Income Tax Assessment Act, eight persons were fined a total of £283/2/ at the Third District Court yesterday, be-fore Mr Wade, PM.

MAILS FOR MERCHANTMEN

In future all mails for officers and crew of British merchant ships should be addressed to the name of the person and the ship, care the owners or agents of the vessel at the appropriate port, instead of the Bri-tish Ministry of War Transport, Senator Cameron, PMG, announced yesterday. The special wartime or-ganisation set up by the British Ministry of War Transport for hand-ling mail for personnel of British merchant vessels had now been dis-continued, he said.
