rpHE SUCCESS OF MODERATE PRICES has | 1. been strikingly evidenced in the large and still in-creasing patronage which, notwithstanding the depres-sion of trade, has been awarded to the New Papers. The Advertiser is now established as a medium, second to none in the colony, for the publication of every descrip ion of business and general notices, a fact which must in a'great measure be attributed to the Reduced Scale of Charges adopted at the outset and still adhered to. The Advertiser being found in every place of public re-sort, cannot be surpassed as an organ of public informa-tion, whilstits exceedingly liberal tariff of charges gives it an advantage especially and exclusively its own.

The following is the exceedingly moderate SCALE of CHARGES for ADVERTISEMENTS in the "SOUTH AUSTRALIAN ADVERTISER":

The Weekly Chronicle is now recognised through-out the country districts as one of the moat important advertising mediums. The most cursory glance at the advertisements of the Chronicle -will convince of the truth of this statement. Country Storekeepers, auc-tioneers, farmers, stockbreeders, and others, will effect a great saving by availing themselves of this channel of information. To Horticultural and Agricultural Socie-ties, Sporting Committees, and others requiring long announcements, the reduction will be of considerable im-

portance. District Councils, and all others required by law to advertise notices of their intended proceedings, will also effect material saving by availing themselves of the

W BEKLT Chronicle.

Public Notices.

TO THE ELECTORS OF EAST TORRENS -

Gentlemen-I have been asked by several of my constituents whether it is correct (as rumored) that I have intimated my intention not again to stand for East Torrens. In reply I beg to state, that no such intima-tion has ever been given or sanctioned by me, and that the authors of the rumor havedrawna upon their imagi-nations for their facts.

But whilst thus distinctly repudiating officious state-ments, made on my behalf without my authority, I feel it due to the electors of East Torrens to guard them against any possible misinterpretation of my present disclaimer. I do not pledge myself to again become candidate. My desire is to be left wholly free to act as my own circumstances and as the complexion of political affairs may hereafter determine. Reserving this liberty to myself,I of course wish the electors of East Torrens to act with the equal freedom-altogether regardless of my present political connection with the district.

Whether it be my lot to represent East Torrens in the next Parliament or not, I shall ever cherish a lively sense of gratitude for the confidence reposed in me by the electors, and shall be, under all circumstances, ever willing, to the utmost of my ability, to advocate and promote the interests of the district.

I am, Gentlemen,

Your obedient Servant,
