, Lauabtine's Description or the ExECxraox' oe Maby.-The following is from Inmarttne's last lite-rary effort :-" She»amved in the hall of death. Pille, but unflinching, she contemplated the dismal ore» parutions. Thero lay the block and tha axe. Thora stood the executioner and his assistant. All were clothed in mourning. On the floor was scattered the sawdust which was to soak her blood, and in a dark corner lay *he bier which was to b3 liar bat prison. It was 9 o'clock when the Quean appeared" in the funsreal hall. Fletche", Ddan of Peter-borough, and certain privileged parsons, to the num-ber of moro than 200, were assembled. The h?U waa hung with black cloth ; the scaffold, which was ele-vated about two feet and a half above the ground, w13 covered with black frieze of Lancaster ; the arm-clni.* in which Mary was to sit, the footstool 01 which shs was to kneel, the block on which hsr he id was to b3 laid, were covered with black velvet. The Qaeen was clothed in mourning like the hall and as tb.3 ensigns of punishment. Her bbek velvet robs, with its high collar and hanging sleeves, was bordered with e;otine. Her mantle, lined with marten sable, was of satin, with pearl buttons and a long train. A chain of sweet-smelling beads, to which was attached a scapu.lary, and beneath that a golden cross, fell upon her bosom. Two rosaries were suspended to hsr girdle, and a long veil of white lace, which in some msasura softened thi3 costume of a widow and of a nonclenmed criminal, was thrown around her. . . Arrived on the scaffold, Mary seated herself in the chair proriâzd. for her, with her face towards the spectators. Tha Dean of Peterborough, in ecclesiastical costuras, sat on the right of the Queen, with a black velvet foot-stool before him. The Earls of Kent and Shrews

bury were seated like mm on the right, but upon, larger chairs. On the other side of the Ou33t stood the Sheriff Andrews, with white wand. In front of Mary were sean the executioner and his assistant, distinguishable by their vesfcrnsnts of black velvet, with red crape round the left arm. Behind tho Queen's chair, ranged by the wall, wept her attendants and maidens. In tho body of the hall the noble3 and citizens from the neighbouring counties were guarded by the musketeers oTSir Amyas Paulet and S r Drew Drury. Beyond the balustrade was the bar o" tho

tribunal. _ The sentence was read ; the Qiiien pro-tested against it in the name of royalty and of inno-cence, but accepted death for the 'sake of tho faith. Sb.3 then knelt down before the block, and tli3 esecationer proceeded to remove her veil. She «oellcd him by a gesture, and turning towards the Earíi with a blush'on her forehead, 'I am not accustom 3d,' abo said, ' to be undressed before so numerous a covaoany, aud by the hands of such grooms of the eba nber.* She then called Jane Kennedy and Elizabeth Carlo, who took off her mantle, her veil, her chains, cross, a.rj scapluary. On their touching her robe, the Qussa Lcld them to unlocsa the corsage, and fold down fch.9 ['ermine collar, so as to leave* her neck bare fo»* tha

axe. üer maidens wespmgiy yielde--! he? the;3

laslrservices. Melvil and the three other attendants wept and lamented, and -Mary placed her finger on her lips to signify that they should be silen1-. ** * ** She then arranged the handkerchief embroidered with thistles of gold, with which her eye3 had bssa covered by Jane Kennedy. Thrice she kissed tha crucifix, each time repeating," ' Lord, into thy bindo I commend my spirit.' She knelt anew, and hint her head on that block which wa3 already moored with deep marks ; and in this solemn atüfu le sha again recited some verses from the Psalms. Tho executioner interrupted her at the third veras by a

blow of the axe, but its trembling stro'xe only -grazed her neck; she groaned slightly, and til» second blow separated the head from the body."

Thhee Husdeed Emigbants Staeved to Dcath -The White Cloud (Kansas) Chief, of June Dru, says :-" Two young men, named Erastus B Ord Bil and Preston Oates, of Wiiliamsbiirg, Wayne County, Indiana, have arrived here direct from Denver Càfcr-. They went out last Octobsr, and left Dan ver o a lío Gfchof May. A gentleman in this place was acquainfcad with them, and pronounces them to be perfectly re-liable. They prospected two months, and made 2 dollars 40 cents, all told. They prospested up and down the Platte, and on the head water- of the Colo-rado. They report horrible suffering on the Snoky Billi route which has bsen so be-puffed in some of the papers. When they left but 10 persons had reaa is I the mines by that route, who reported that 333 lud died on the way. One of ths men reported that ho had seen six dead men lying within reaeh of easb. other ; and another S8id that ha had himself buried twelve men. These men came straggling in o jq by one. One of them had lived 10 days on tho fli^i oC his dog. They reported that some had lost their wa ,\ Scouts were immediately sent out, and some of tlis lost one3 were found within 10 miles of the camp, so weak that they liai to be fed with spoons. These young men threw their tools into tha Platte and started home on foot, taking only two blankets with them. For 200 mile3 they lived on prickly pears and wild potatoes. They built but two fires from Denver to Fort Kearney. Once they killed a prairie dog and roasted it. Another time they came to where a mau and his family were encamped, and asked for bread.

The man at first refused j(t, bat at fengfcb: agreed to'leb * them have some, for which he took their blankets as pay. They then had to sleep on the barepraine, and once the Cheyenne Indians came near, taking theic

coats from, them.
