Free Visits to Holland

The names of two Victoiian Scouts who have been chosen to make free journeys to the fifth International Jamboree in Holland this year were announced by the general secretary of the Boy Scouts' Asso-ciation (Mr. F R G Sanders) yesterday.

The Scouts are -

Charles Russell Harding, aged 14 years, of Swanston Street, Mentone.

Keith Alan Reid. aged 16 years, of Swan Hill.

made possible by the generosity of the State president of the Boy Scouts Asso ciation (Colonel Harold Cohen M.L.A.), is troop leader of the 2nd Mordialloc Troop He has been a Scout for six and a half years, has his first-class badge and is a King's Scout. Last year he was a prefect at the Universitj High School

where he was studying for his leaving certificate. He played in the school lacrosse team and took a leading part in school football, tennis and swimming His chief hobby Is astionomy

Keith Reid is troop leadei of the 1st Swan Hill troop and a first-class Scout. He also has an excellent scholastic and sporting record. The Chief Commissioner (Mr C A Hoadley) and the Deputy Chief Commissioner (Mr G W S Anderson), who made the selection said that the standard of applicants had been remark ably high

In addition to Tioop-Leaders Harding and Reid more than 40 Victorian Scouts will go to the jamboree. The cost for each Scout will be about £150. The party will leave Melbourne by the Orama on March 30 and will visit Ceylon, Egypt, Italy, France, Switzerland, Luxemburg, and Belgium on the way to Holland It will be in London for the Coronation. The Jamboree will begin on July 31 and will end on August 9. The site is in a rural setting at Vogelenzang, behind sand dunes facing the North Sea
