Grave of First White Woman in Wimmera

stone in the garden at Lexington Station which was the run origin

ally occupied by Horatio Spencer Wills when he came overland from

Sydney in 1840 has been found to

be the grave of the first white woman who entered the Wimmera She died there in 1843.

The stone which was recently cleaned bears the inscription -

Sacred to the memory of Eliza Ann Allan who departed this life at Allanvale on March 15, 1843 Mrs   Allan was the wife of John Allan who occupied the Allanvale Estate

from 1841 to 1844
