I MISS HUSH HAWKINS: "V

Miss Helen Hawkins, of McWhae ay, Ripponlea, who has been associated with Red Cross activities in recent years, died at her home on Saturday morning. Miss Hawkins's home and large gardens have on many occasions been thrown open to the public for the benefit of the POW Fund. Born at Coghill's Creek, near Ballarat, she practised dentistry in Melbourne for many years.

She is survived by three sisters and one brother. The funeral will leave her residence today for Springvale Crematorium after a short service commencing at 10.15am.

MR HENRY CHARLES SCOBIE

The death occurred suddenly on Friday evening of Mr Henry Charles Ernest people, of Victoria at, Albert Park. Mr Scobie, who was 43, was well known in the furniture trade, being manager of Brunswick branch of Maples. He was formerly associated with Footscray branch of the same firm. He was also prominent in Masonic circles, being First Principal of the Australasian Royal Arch Chapter No 1, and a Past Master of Admiral Collingwood Lodge. He

leaves a widow.

The funeral will leave Sleight's chapel, St Kilda rd, after a service commencing there at 3.15pm today for Fawkner Cemetery.

MRS J. C. MOORE

Mrs Jane C. Moore, who died at her home, Tara, Orrong rd, Toorak, on Friday, was the widow of the late Mr Charles Moore, founder of the store of Chas. M. Read and Co, Prahran. Mrs Moore helped her husband to build up this business, and also branches in Perth, Adelaide, and Kadina, SA.

Born in Dublin, Mrs Moore left there for Australia nearly 50 years ago. Her father, the late Mr William R. Carty was founder of the Band of Hope in Ireland. For the last 10 years she had been an invalid, but previously she took a practical interest in kindergarten

and creche work,

Mrs Moore leaves three sons Denis (formerly AIF), Kenneth (formerly RAAF), and Charles, also three daughters, Mesdames L. Heath, W. N. Tinsley, and Burns Cuming, all

of Melbourne.

Following a service at her home today, Mrs Moore will be cremated at Springvale Cemetery, and the remains privately interred in the family vault at Brighton Cemetery. Read's Store will be closed today.

MRS LUCY SARAH BULL

Mrs Lucy Sarah Bull, wife of Rev C. E. S. Bull, and for some years his assistant In missionary work in the Solomon Islands, died at Williamstown on Saturday night. Before her marriage Mrs Bull was a nursing sister, with experience in a number of Victorian country centres, including Corryong, Maryborough, and Warrnambool. The funeral will leave Holy Trinity Church, Williamstown, for Williamstown Cemetery, after requiem eucharist at 9am to-day. Arrangements are being made by Nelson Bros.
