THE LATE JAS. PEARCE.

The funeral of the late James Pearce, proprietor of the Strathfield flour mills, took place on Saturday May 27th. The cortege left his late residence, "Dunkeld," Homebush, for Roodwood by road, where the burial took place in the Independent ceme-

tery. There was a large attendance, as the late James Pearce was very widely known and highly respected. Among those who were at the grave-

side were representatives of both business and sporting circles (in which the deceased mixed) and also visitors from interstate. For 10 or 12 years tile deceased was closely as-

sociated with the public life of Mill-

thorpe. He was a keen business man, and managed the local Great West-

ern mill for several years, and it was under his management that this in-

dustry was brought to such successful standing. Some 12 years ago he left with his family for Sydney, and on the eve of their departure they were given a public farewell and presen-tation. In Sydney Mr. Pearce launch-

ed out in the flour milling business, on his own account, and proved to be highly successful, continually im-

proving and increasing his plant. At the time of his death he was engaged in adding large silos. The funeral service was according to the rites of the Christadelphian religion, and sev-

eral of his friends spoke at the grave side. Great sympathy is expressed on all sides at his death, as he was a friend of all who knew him.
