Trinity Grammar School Sydney received a cable message yesterday intimating that he had been unanimously selected a, Bishop of' Nelson (New Zealand in succession to Bishop Sadlier Canon Hillard said that he had not yet considered whether he would accept the appointment Canon Hilliard was educated at Sydney Grammar School and Sydney University and was ordained deacon in 1911 and priest in 1912 He was appointed head master of Trinity Grammar School in 1929 and lecturer and assistant minister of St. Andrew's Cathedral, the same year He has been rector of St John's, Ashfield, and St Clements Mar rick life He is one of the most popular evangelicals in the Church life of Australia and is a forceful preacher

Mr P J Horan has been appointed deputy comptroller general of the Department

Notwithstanding the inclement weather about 60 people attended a meeting convened by the mayor of St Kilda (Coun clllor Burnett Gray ) last evenlng for the purpose of taking steps to perpetuate the memory of the late Mr Edward O'Donnell The meeting was held in the town hall The town clerk (Mr F Chamberlin) read a record of the public services of Mr O Donnell which showed that for 44 years conti IUOUSIJ he had been a member of the St. Kilda Council The meeting decided that all present should form themselves into a general committee from which an executive committee will be chosen The major was appointed chairman of the executive committee and Dr Levin was appointed vice chairman Mr Chamberlain was appointed secretary and treasurer
