CP CANDIDATE FOR LOWAN
In endorsing Mr Wilfred John Mibus, of Green Lake, via Horsham, as the CP candidate for Lowan by-election, the management commit-tee of the UCP Central Council yesterday passed a resolution con-gratulating Mr Mibus, and stating that his selection was a well-merited tribute to the great service he had rendered to the organisation and to the people of Lowan.
The committee also decided that a letter of sympathy be sent to Mrs Lamb, mother, and Mrs Rodan, sister of the late Lieutenant Hamil-ton Lamb, whose death in a POW camp overseas created the vacancy in the Lowan electorate.
The writ for the by-election will be issued today, nominations closing at noon on October l8 and the poll being held on November 4.
It has been announced that La-bour will contest the seat.
