BASEBALL GAMES

TO CONTINUE

Australian Team

With the premiership positions still in-teresting, baseball players will return to their normal round of games on Satur-day after a break of two weeks for the Australian carnival.

Although affected considerably by the weather, the carnival probably will be a financial success as the evenness of the teams attracted fairly large attendances. Unfortunately, however, the final games had to be played on an open ground and although 5,000 people watched the games no gate receipts were received.

After the series representatives of the various States chose an ' all-Australian'

baseball team. Following the lines of the all-American football team, the play-ers chosen will not represent Australia in any matches but will merely have the honour of being named in what is con-sidered to be the strongest team Aus-tralia could field. The team for this year

is:-

Pitchers, J. Lanfear (NSW) and C. Puckett (W.A.); catchers, L. Miller and A. Goodwin (N.S.W.); first base, A. Barras (W.A.); second base, F. Catt (S.A.); third base, W. Rankin (N.S.W.);

shortstop, R. Corby (V.); outfields, N. Blanche (N.S.W.), S. Yum and J. Denison (V.). Utility, G. Borwick (N.S.W.); manager and coach D. Mould (N.S.W.).
