Sir John sulman ?

Sir John Sulman, architect, ardent advo-cate of scientific town planning, and president of the National Art Gallery, died in Sydney on Saturday in his 85th year. He was cremated privately. Sir John Sulman was bom in London In 1849. He became an architect, and he designed about 90 churches In Englnnd. After his arrival In Sydney in 1885 he continued lo exhibit an interest in art generally. He was associated with the design and erec-tion of some of the finest buildings In Sydney and in other States and in New Zealand. Among them were the A.MP. building and Sargood's warehouse In Mel-bourne and the Sydney Stock Exchange, He retired In 1928. He was lecturer in architecture at the University of Sydney, and he was associated closely with m New South Wales Town-planning Asso-

ciation.
