"THE SILENCE OF DEAN

MAITLAND"

CENSORSHIP CUTS MODIFIED Love Scene Allowed to Remain

SYDNEY, Wednesday - The Federal appeal censor (Brigadier-Geneial Mackay) viewed the film "The Silence of Dean Maitland" to-day, and reversed the ruling of the chief censor (Mr Creswell O'Reilly) on the most important of the three cuts, which Mr O'Reilly had demanded. In respect of the other two 'cuts,' modifica-tions in detail were requested. These the directors of Cinesound Ltd will be able to make easily. The film may then, with out hindrance, be exported.

Mr Ken Hall, general manager of Cinesound Ltd and director of the film, said to-day that he was particularly pleased that the love scene between the dean and the girl had been allowed to remain because it formed the dramatic pivot of the play. Before the company commenced production of "Robbery Under Arms," which would be its next subject, the complete scrip would be submitted to the Chief Secretary for approval.
