TRAINER THINKS HEAT

AFFECTED TRANQUIL STAR

Trainer Ron Cameron thinks that the hot day may have affected Tranquil Star and caused her defeat when an odds-on favourite in the Essendon Stakes on Saturday. The mare has failed before under similar conditions. Tranquil Star was not affected by the race, and yesterday Cameron reported that she was "jumping out of her skin."

Although backers were disappointed to see Tranquil Star beaten by Tea Cake and St Fairy, they did not be-grudge Tea Cake his win. No horse has raced more consistently or been so persistently followed by bad luck. Before Saturday he had filled seven minor places in 10 starts.
