V.R.C. AUTUMN MEETING.

AUSTRALIAN CUP DAY.

THE PARISIAN WINS.

After two postponements, the second day of the V.R.C. Autumn Meeting was success-fully held on Saturday, when the weather was in every way favourable. After the heavy rains during the week, it was gene-rally thought that the track would be very heavy, but anticipations in this regard were not realised. The going was rather soft, but quite sound, and in the chief event of the day time equal to the record was made. Despite the fact that many interstate and country visitors had returned home, there was a splendid attendance, probably a good deal larger than if the second day had been run on the date originally fixed, and if the

weather remains favourable for the remain-ing days no great loss, despite the expense attending two postponements, is likely to be made over the meeting. Their Excellen-cies the Governor-General and Lady Dudley and Sir Thomas Gibson Carmichael and Lady Carmichael were amongst the com-

pany.
