FATAL SNAKEBITE.

A SCHOOLBOY'S DEATH.

CASTlfeTOK, Mondays boy named Alexander M'Cabe died as the result of snakebite yesterday Three schoolboys named Roy) McDonald, William Pretlove, and Ace M'Cabe, of Sandford, all about 14 years of age, went rabbiting on Saturday

A rabbit went into a burrow, and M'Cabe put his hand in He said, "There's a snake here but, although he received a great shoe!, he did not think that she had been bitten Shortly afterwards, however, he complained of a headache, and had a fit of vomiting He told his companions that he would be all right Boon, and they went on rehearsing An hour and a half later the boy was still very had, but it was thought that he had a bilious attack M'Cahe rubbed and)' some blood from his thumb

1 lad named Norman Somerville, who was out shooting, came across M'Cabe Intel

and drove him home The boy still said

that he had not been bitten As it was evident however, that the case was serious, Dr Skinner was called in. He found the symptoms to be those of snakebite, and prescribed remedies, but the boy collapsed on Sunday morning, and died at 1 o'clock
