SPENCER'S THEATRESCOPE.

Some excellent pictures, depicting the life and adventures, of John Vane, bushranger,

are at present being exhibited by Spencer's Theatroscope Co. at Olympia. The begin- ning of Vane's career of outlawry -the bail- ing up of a Chinese in pursuance of a wager - opens the series. His subsequent cap-ture and release by his sweetheart; Ben Hall s many exploits in the Carcoar dis-trict, ending in the sticking up of the Keightley Homestead, and the shooting of Michael Burke, an outrage in which Vane throws in his lot with the Hall gang, Vane's remorse and surrender to Father McCarthy,

his release from prison, and the peace which came in his old age, are portrayed with splen-did backgrounds of the sunny New South Wales bush. These pictures were taken in New South Wales by Spencer's operator and compare very favourably with the best foreign films. Other interesting pictures are shown, and on Monday night the launch- ing of the destroyer "Parramatta," on Feb- mary 9, by Mrs. Asguith, having arrived by mail, will be exhibited.
