Gurindji

walk-off grows

DARWIN, Thursday. -Another group of Gurindji tribesmen and their families have walked off a cattle sta-tion to join the land-claim protest assembly at Wattie

Creek.

The tribe is assembled at Wattie Creek in protest against the Government's de-cision not to grant it about eight square miles in the area it claims is tribal ground.

Nine stockmen with 11 women and children walked

off 'Camfield' station adjoin-ing 'Wave Hill' without giv-ing reasons, but they were seen heading for Wattie Creek.

The Gurindjis have so far rejected a Government offer to build them a settlement and later a township on Crown land four miles from Wattie Creek.
