DISASTROUS SHIPWRECK.

ELEVEN LIVES LOST.

LONDON, Feb. 17.

The ship Emily Reed, of San Francisco, has been wrecked on the coast of Oregon, with heavy loss of life.

The ship was making the voyage from Newcastle, New South Wales, which she left on November 3, to Portland, in Oregon (U.S.A.), and met with the disaster on the Oregon coast.

Eleven members of the crew wore drowned.

[The Emily Reed was an American wooden ship of 1,565 tons, and was built in the State of Maine 27 years ago, for the Ship Emily Reed Company. She was 215ft. in length, 40ft. 6in. wide, and 24ft. deep. The vessel was well-known in Syd-ney and Newcastle.]
