AMUSEMENT TAX

PATRONS OF BOXING MATCH

REFUSE TO PAY.

MELBOURNE, January 14,

Between 500 amd 600 young men re-fused to pay the amusement tax at the Stadium last night to vvitness a boxing match between Edwards and Palmer. They were patrons of the lower-priced seats. The manager of the Stadium argued with the spokes-men for the crowd for some time, but neither side would yield, and the result was that the attendance was much smaller than usual.
