OBITUARY MR. R. J. WINNING The death occurred at his home at Ashfield, yesterday, of Mr. Robert John Winning, formerly of Crookwell, at the age of 63 years. The late Mr. Winning was proprie-tor of the Crookwell Gazette for about 10 years, and was formerly associated with the Sydney Morning Herald and Sydney Mail, later being interested in a newspaper at Cessnock. After acquiring the Gazette, Mr. Winning took up residence at Crook-well, and was always interested in movements for the advancement of the town. He was chairman of the Crookwell Hospital for several years, and took a keen interest in the wel-fare of that institution. Always a popular citizen, regret was expressed when he found it necessary to live in Sydney, but even after his depart-ure about four years ago he always kept in touch with Crookwell activ-ities. After his departure, his son, Mr. John R. Winning, attended to the publishing of the paper. The late Mr. Winning leaves a widow and family of two sons, Rich-ard (Sydney), and John (Crookwell); and three daughters, Mrs. F. Morgan (Goulburn), Mrs. J. J. Hanley (Crook-well), and Miss Joyce Winning (Syd-ney). He is survived also by his mother, Mrs. A. Winning, and three brothers and one sister, all of Syd-ney. The brothers are Richard, Percy and Charles. The funeral left Ashfield at 11 o'clock this morning for the Rook-wood Cemetery.
