Three dead

after dog

falls 13 floors

BUENOS AIRES: A dog which fell from a 13th-floor balcony on Friday night triggered three deaths in a row in

central Buenos Aires.

The dog, a poodle named Cachi, hit 75-year-old Marta Espina on her head and both the woman and the dog died instantly.

Edith Sola, 46, died on the spot when knocked down by a bus while standing in the middle of the street at the edge of a crowd that had gathered to watch the scene.

An unidentified man who saw both incidents suffered a heart-attack and died in the ambulance on his way to hospital.

It was not immediately clear why Cachi fell.

Papers in the Argentinian capital, some of which put the story on their front pages, said repairs had recently been made at the 13th-floor balcony of the Montoya family, owners of the dog.

"We are all extremely sad, we cannot understand how all this could happen. Just imagine how the Montoyas feel about it," a neighbour told the Clarin newspaper.
