The Ticliborne Claimant.

SIR ROGER'S ALLEGED DEATH

GEELONG.

An Albury telegram of Monday says

From the Very Rev. Father Dunne, of Newtown, tie following statement with respect to the supposition that Sir Roger Tichborne died at Geelong has been obtained :—"A charitable 80»">ty called the Friendly Brothers "was established in Geelong in 185i, and a man was received in a cottage which the socio'y had rented. The dootor who was called in had no hopes of 'the man's recovery. I was called in to administer the last sacraments to him, as he was a Catholic. The man was very strange and reserve ! in his manner, and did not wish to make his identity known to any one, so I did uot press him for any information as to who he was or where he came from. I prepared him for death, and his remains were interred in the portion of the Geelong Cemetery allotted for paupers, Mr. B. Flanuery, secretary to the Friendly Brothers' Socio'y, states that the man gave him his name as Sir Roger Tichborne The records of the society are lost. The woman who had ohargo of tho nooiety'a cottago is dead, and X do not think there is one'now living who has any recollection of the man except my. self and Mr. Flanuery. My impression is, from what Mr. Flannery states, and the circumstauces of the death of this man, that he was the real Sir Roger Tichborne."
