--- Obituary. There passed away at Hawkesdale on Thursday, an old pioneer of the district, Mr John Toogood, the cause of his death being a fall from his buggy while returning home from a sale at Macarthur. The parents of. the deceased came from England, and he was born at Prince's Bridgec Mel bourne, in the year 1840. He was married at Richmond at the age -of 22 years, and arrived at Port Fairy in 1864. He lived at Winslow for 4 years, where his wife died, and was buried in the Tower Hill cemetery. He removed to Hawkesdale in 1867, where he took up land, and was en gaged in the carrying and contracting business for several years, later be ing occupied in farming.and grazing pursuits. He was married three times, and all-his wives predeceased him. He leaves four sons and five daughters The sons are Mr J. H. Toogood, of Hawkesdale ; Mr William Toogood, Gippsland, John and Thomas Too good, of Hawkesdale, and George Toogood, who has been at the front tsince the war started. Deceased was well-knowi throughout the disrict and highly respected as an honest sraightforward man. The funeral took place on Friday, and was largely attended. I ' *
