EIGHT LIVES LOST SURVIVORS AT BOMBAY. LONDON. June 57
An official dispatch issued at Calcutta on Wednesday afternoon states:— The P and O mail steamer Mongolia struck a mine and sank near Bombay on Saturday. Boats loaded with passengers and mem- bersof the crew hare arrived in Bombay. The mails for India and Australia were lost. The Hon. F. E. Winchcombe, formerly president of the Sydney Chamber of Com- merce, was among the survivors of the wreck. Two European passengers and six members of the European crew were lost.
