Sir -I feel assured that I need not apolo j gise tor troubling you with a few lines in reference to the abovennmetl institution, because of your well known readiness to advocate the cause or the poor in general, nnd that ot the children in particular 1 brough the generosity ot a gentleman in the city the Homes ot Hope possess a half acre of land at the most peaceful watering place in Victoria, at Ocean grove, and owing to the kindness ol another gentleman in the suburbs we have been uble to build, very cheaply, a nice three roomed cottage to afford the little boys and girls a periodic change lhe first batch ot children have taken up their abode at thp cottage for a lortnight in charge of Mrs Cherbury, and are enjojing their holiday amazingly 'lheyleftMelbourne, vin Geelong, on Ihursdny morning by the 10 35 train nnd arnv ed at the cottage by 2 pm in good spirits The Bame gentleman who gave the land also kindly defra)ed all expenses for return trniiBit and a duiner at the Ocean grove Coffee Palace As other little inmates will go there when the first batch returns, and as we cannot well expect to have the fares paid for by one man, I thought it would not be out of place to solicit your kind readers attention to the matter and state that I am desirous of raising the needed funds for this independent of the general maintenance iunds ot the homes Notwith standing the ktnduess ot friends already shown, we sadly need another dormitor} at the cottage, because now we can only take children of one sex nt the time We need also tunda for fencing the ground and plant ing of trees, ,.c If uny ladies or geutlcmeu wish to help us, I should be pleased if they will endorse their donations with ' for the sanatorium 1 moy also state that the new house in J-asy street, Collingwood the noble giftot Mr David Whitley to the institution is Hearing completion and tint we bope to open it about the middle ot nevt month, when the tenth anniversary will be celebrated on the same evening in Dr Bevans church, kindls lent by the doctor and the deacons Hie tenth annual report will be forwarded in afevvdnjs.
