MAJ. MALTBY WILL MEET SUPPORTERS
For his opposition to moves within
his party for an alliance with the Labour party Maj Maltby (UAP Barwon) has received several letters of support. His attitude on this mat- ter, as well as his refusal to be asso- ciated with the rebuff given to UAO concilliatory overtures by his Parlia- mentary colleagues, is believed to be the cause of the strained feelings existing between him and other UAP
At the weekend Maj Maltby will meet representatives of organisations to which he is responsible in his electorate to discuss his future re- lations with the general body of State UAP members in view of the stand they have taken on the ques- tion of party reorganisation. As he believes it is not the time to have this matter publicly discussed these talks will be as far as possible private.
Military duties prevented Maj Maltby from attending the House on Wednesday but he took his seat yes- terday afternoon in the Opposition cross-benches. He continues to use the Independents' room.
